Find My Friends by Apple is a social media app for your iOS device that lets you know where your friends are wherever you go.

No matter where you are, this app allows you to quickly and easily find your friends and family members using your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. When you install the app on your device, sign in using your Apple ID, and add a friend, you can send that person a request to see where they are located. If your friend accepts the app, you’ll be able to see where he or she is. Your friends will also be able to see where you are, too.

You can set the app to share your location with a certain group of friends for a certain length of time, like while you’re on vacation and you don’t want to lose your buddies, or you can check on your kids when they’re home sick from school. Say you have a dinner engagement and you want to see where the other guests are – the app will work really well for that.

You can set up location-based alerts if you’re on iOS 6, which will let you know when a family member or friend arrives at a certain location or leaves a location. Alternatively, you can set the app to notify other people of your location.

Find My Friends was updated to Version 2.0.1 on October 29, 2012. The app has a total of 4410 customer ratings with an average of 3.5 out of five stars.

I’ve only used this a couple of times but the app seems kind of buggy. If the app signs you out when your screen times out, the app will give the wrong location. This could be just user error in that I’m doing something wrong, but unless I can figure out a way for the app to always give my proper location I’m not going to give this app a very high rating.
