bSafe by Bipper USA, Inc. is an app that will help increase your personal security using your iOS device.
If you get scared or nervous when walking or jogging alone during the night or even the day in remote areas, then you need this app. You can set up your phone to call any one of a network of friends or family members who will be notified in the case of an emergency.
If you need help, all you have to do is push the giant red SOS button to text or call those contacts with the info regarding your location.
The app is designed to allow certain friends to be able to follow you using real-time GPS tracing. You can also set your iPhone to trigger your bSafe SOS alarm if you haven’t checked in at a certain time.
If you’re out on a date or other excursion and you just want out, you can trigger your phone to ring with a fake call either at that moment or set it to go off in a few minutes. Then you can make your getaway.
You get basic support with the free app, including Fake Call, the “I’m Here” notification your Guardians will receive, the two-click SOS alarm with GPS position, and the test/demo option. If you want the premium features, you will have to pay a monthly or yearly subscription. These cost $1.99 for the monthly or $19.99 for the yearly subscription. The premium option gets you the Live GPS tracing, video recording and loud sound, and scheduled alarm if you don’t check in.
bSafe was updated to Version 2.2.8 on January 23, 2013. The update made bug fixes and minor UI changes. The app is available in 16 languages and has a total of 10 customer ratings with an average of 3.5 out of five stars.
I really like the idea of this app. I run a lot, sometimes at night, and the added security is helpful. Even the free options make it worth the download. Check it out!
