The Night Sky Lite by iCandi Apps describes what it is you're looking at in the night sky.
If you've ever looked up into the sky and wondered what it is you're looking at this app can fill in the blanks for you. It identifies all the galaxies, planets, constellations, and stars. The way the app works is that you hold your mobile device up towards the sky and then the names will appear on your screen almost instantly.
Features of the app include its ability to correctly identify what's in the sky no matter if it's day, night, or cloudy. The information is gathered by using your current GPS location and compass that is built into your mobile device. It takes this information and cross references it with a map of the sky that is built into the app itself. This map of the sky then gives you overlays of galaxies, planets, stars, and constellations.
On top of being able to identify everything up in the sky you can also read information about these objects.
If you upgrade to the full version you'll also be able to track satellites, the ads will be removed, and you can use night vision mode.
The Night Sky Lite was updated on Jan. 17, 2013 and currently has five customer ratings with an average rating of three and a half out of five stars.
This app is very simple to use and gives you some interesting data and information about what you see up in the sky. It was great for identifying what it was you were looking at each night, the map overlays were very easy to use and read.
