PixHole app review: fill in holes in photos with the missing pieces

Reviews

Introduction

This is a very fun game which takes picture guessing to a whole new level using high-quality photography from some very esteemed Instagram photographers and featuring a variety of exciting features to provide you with the next generation in picture-based gaming.

I’ve been having a lot of fun with PixHole and I must admit, I’m becoming a little addicted…just a little though! This game really sneaks up on you as it starts off easily enough; you can learn the basic concepts quickly, but boy does the guessing become tougher as you progress through each level!

This game looks set to be the next big thing in picture-based iOS games.

Holy Pix!

The premise of this game is simple: you are presented with images which have circular sections missing from them. The missing pieces are displayed at the bottom of the screen and you have to guess which ones go in which holes.

Sounds pretty simple, wouldn’t you say? Just keep reading and you’ll see!

As you progress through the game and the levels become increasingly difficult, the missing pieces become more and more disjointed and some of them even spin around making things even more challenging.

What It's All About

As you might expect with a game like this, you can earn points by guessing correctly but you will lose points if you make a mistake, so be careful!

I think this is also a great way for Instagram photographers to gain a little more exposure because their user names are displayed onscreen and you can interact with them through a variety of onscreen features which integrate seamlessly with Instagram.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Fun and unique picture-guessing game
  • Very simple concept which very quickly becomes quite challenging
  • Great exposure for Instagram photographers
  • Use your own Camera Roll photos for a more personal experience

Cons

  • There is nothing negative to say about this app

Final Words

There is another feature I’d like to mention which I think is pretty cool, and it is that you can use your own Instagram pictures rather than those of the featured photographers. You can also choose to use popular Instagram pictures, so you’ve basically got three different sources for photos, which I think really adds to the variety of this game.

I do like the way PixHole is presented; the user interface looks great and as soon as you take a look at the start screen, you’ll immediately see what I mean. The in-game interface features a soft white and grey color scheme which I think compliments the featured photography perfectly and really captures the essence of the Instagram effects and filters.

All in all, I’ve got high hopes for this app and I really think it deserves a great deal of praise for bringing something new to the picture-guessing genre of games, rather than just regurgitating old ideas.

This app definitely gets my recommendation!
