Free MP3 Downloader app review: instantly download songs from any web page

Reviews

Introduction

Free MP3 Downloader is a clever little app which enables you to visit websites using the in-app browser and then scan each page for downloadable MP3 files which you can then download straight onto your iPhone. After that, you can tansfer the files onto your computer, all completely free of charge!

I think this is a great idea for an app but I can’t imagine having much use for it personally because I really can’t remember the last time I actually downloaded an MP3 file from a web page. Having said that, users of Last.fm, Jamendo.com, and ArtistServer.com will absolutely love this app because you can easily download all of the audio files on a web page with literally two quick taps.

Free Music for All!

Having downloaded a few tracks with this app, I’m pretty impressed with the functionality of the music player as it enables you to edit track tags, email the track to others, and even features the always-handy "Open In…" feature which makes exporting to other apps a cinch.

I’ve been getting some fantastic download speeds, even on my less-than-ideal Internet connection, and the in-app browser makes finding the tracks you’re looking for very quick and simple.

If you tap the arrow button at the bottom of the screen while in the in-app browser, you’ll be presented with a few options which enable you to set the current page as your home page, add it as a bookmark, or my personal favorite: download all of the MP3s on that page!

Find New Music

Being able to download music tracks en masse like this is an amazing way of trying your luck, so to speak, and introducing yourself to weird and wonderful bands and artists you might never have thought to check out otherwise.

Personally, I think I’ll be sticking with YouTube and other download methods for sourcing new music. For those of you who already use browser-based music clients, I think you’ll find that this app provides a very effective way of getting loads of great music onto your iPhone with relative ease. With the in-app browser and in-app music player, you really do have all your bases covered.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Download music from any website straight onto your iPhone
  • In-app browser
  • In-app music player
  • Create playlists from within the app
  • Email tracks to others
  • Integration of Open In... feature

Cons

  • No social media integration

Final Words

The only negative thing I can think to say about Free MP3 Downloader is that there aren’t any features for sharing tracks with friends and family via sites like Facebook and Twitter.

I think this would be a nice way of sharing new music with others, but I wouldn’t like to take away too many points from this app for the absence of this feature because a lot of thought has clearly gone into designing a comprehensive download and file manager.I love having the browser and music player all built-in as it makes life much, much easier.
