I would like to mention, however, that the functionality in Photo Sketches is somewhat limited, so if you’re looking for a fully fledged photo editing suite, you’re probably going to want to look elsewhere.

This app is essentially a simple collection of filters and effects which you can apply to your images.

Upon first starting up this app you’ll be prompted to either snap a photo from directly within the app or to select one from your Camera Roll. From here, you can begin to experiment with the various effects.

The effects in Photo Sketches are split into two categories which are Sketch and Cartoon, with each category providing seven effects for you to choose from.

Sketch effects include things such as Pencil Sketch, Old Movie Style, Face Frame Sketch, and Smooth Sketch. Cartoon effects, on the other hand, include things like 3D Gorden Sculpt, Color Sketch, Sharpen Filter, Black & White Photo, and Memory Style Photo.

You can quickly and easily try on the different effects for size because once one has been applied, you can undo it simply by tapping on either of the Sketch or Cartoon buttons.

The most disappointing thing about Photo Sketches in my opinion is that, while there is a decent selection of photo effects, you can’t adjust the degree to which they are applied to your photos.

The reason I bring this up is that some of them completely distort photos beyond recognition, making them unusable, so I think that being able to adjust the gradient or some such setting would provide much more freedom and flexibility.

All in all, Photo Sketches is a decent app which is well worth checking out, albeit with slightly limited functionality.

Final Words

There are a lot of photo editing apps available and the vast majority of them have some redeeming qualities even if they aren’t perfect. This is very true of Photo Sketches.

I feel it could do with a little more detail and some additional features, but other than that, it looks good and runs very smoothly, so it’s definitely worth a download if you ask me!
