Pepperplate Recipe, Menu and Cooking Planner app review: a daily meal saver

Reviews

Introduction

Pepperplate is the complete tool to store recipes, import new recipes from all over the Internet, plan a calendar full of meals, and even make complete grocery lists. The catch is, all recipes have to be imported first to the Pepperplate website. Recipes are automatically updated to your iPad or iPhone, but no new recipes can be entered directly into your device. Once recipes are inserted, all other functions can be operated in the application.

Total Food Fixer

View all imported recipes on a single scrollable page once you open Pepperplate. Each recipe is accompanied by a photo, title, and origin label. Tap on the photo to view detailed instructions, a complete ingredient list, total servings and preparation time. A sliding scale is available to tailor the recipe to seven different portion sizes. Add notes to the bottom of the recipe to remember for next time. Sort all of your recipes into categories created by you and add them as you wish to your calendar for a total meal plan. Build grocery lists by importing all or some of the ingredients included in chosen recipes. You can even sort grocery lists by aisle or by recipe.

The best chocolate apps for iPad

When you bring your iPhone or iPad with you to the grocery store, Pepperplate becomes the perfect shopping companion. If you find yourself building such a portfolio of recipes that one recipe gets lost in the mix, just search by title or ingredient and the app will find the recipe for you.

Website-Bound

The downside of this application is its dependency on the Pepperplate website. All URLs have to be pasted into the website in order for the application to recognize a recipe. The good news is, once you copy and paste a URL, the recipe shows up immediately. There are zero weird formatting issues or slow downloading processes. Pepperplate extracts ingredients for the ingredients list and imports recipes exactly as they appear on the website under the picture that recipe is represented by. Other than the fact that it takes a computer, the system is really flawless. The website is also capable of doing everything the app is. If you want to do your organizing before you head to the grocery store, you can do it all at your desktop or laptop and rely on your iPad or iPhone to have your updated research once you’re in the deli aisle.
