Kitchen Sync App review: one of the best shopping list apps in the world

Introduction

I love apps that have a funny name, especially when the subject of the app is relatively without any humor. The reason why Kitchen Sync grabbed my attention is simply because of the funny (punny?) name. However, this app has truly changed my life as now I can simply add thing to my shopping list on one of my devices and it will automatically sync to all my other devices that run the app. This fantastic invention by One Month Apps allows me to add stuff to a shopping list that I forgot to put on there earlier on, so my other half won’t even notice it was missing from the list in the first place. The app is compatible with both iPad and iPhone and is completely free!

Design and Usability

The design of the app is beautiful in its simplicity. The app doesn’t throw in any bells or whistles graphically, but keeps it simple by just using a white background and no images at all. Creating a shopping list is easy, as most of the items in a supermarket are already listed here, and if you want you can add it yourself simply by pressing the + button on the top right hand side. When you see an item in the list to add to your shopping list, simply just tap it and it will be added. It won’t just be added to your shopping list, but also to the list of any other devices that are linked to this list.

Setting up a Sync

Setting up all your devices to sync has never been easier. At first I was afraid that you could only sync from within your iTunes account (like with the cloud) but the app simply generates a code for you that you will supply to other people you want to share the list with and they will automatically get all the updates you make to the list, and vice versa. I really hope that the developer will add the app to other devices, as some of the people I know and want to share a list with only have an Android device. As of now the app is only compatible with iOS devices.

Conclusion

I never thought I would say this, but as from today, my shopping list will be digital. I have never seen such a great functioning shopping list app, and I’m glad that I found it. The only thing I would like to ask of the developer is to release it on other devices as well, so I can sync with people who don’t own an iOS device, but an Android device instead. The app is compatible with both iPhone and iPad and is only just over 6 MB.
