Reviews

Introduction

Whether you live in USA, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, or you’re just thinking of visiting one of these countries, you’ll definitely want to consider checking out this iPhone and iPad app which comes loaded with real-time public transport schedules for dozens of major cities.

I’m well and truly impressed by the amount of content offered in this app, and it looks like the developer will be continuing to add more cities in future updates as well so keep ‘em peeled even if your city isn’t covered.

With Coverage for Dozens of Major Cities

TransitTimes+ is a fairly comprehensive collection of public transport schedules for major cities throughout the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, providing coverage for dozens of locations in total.

For some cities in the United States you can view the location of vehicles you’re waiting for, with real-time updates so you know more or less exactly how long you’ve got left to wait. I imagine this could be pretty handy if you live near a stop and want to make sure the service is running on time before leaving home.

Manage Your Prepay Card In-App

For the routes supported you can also use your device’s integrated GPS in conjunction with the in-app route planner to receive accurate directions to wherever you want to go, with details of any changes you might need to make along the way.

You can also use this app to make sure your prepaid ticket is always topped up, and so far the developer has included support for Transperth SmartRider, Christchurch Metrocard, Adelaide MetroCard, Melbourne Myki, Brisbane GoCard, to name but a few.

As I mentioned above, more cities (and prepay services) will be added in future updates, so if you live in a reasonably sized city then chances are you’ll be catered to soon enough!

Final Words

TransitTimes+ is definitely worth having to hand if you live in one of the covered areas, and I think you’ll find the offline schedules to be particularly useful for when you’re on the go and can’t access an Internet connection.

I initially thought the content in this app might be spread a little thin considering there is coverage for four countries, but the developer has done a great job so TransitTimes+ definitely receives my recommendation.
