Nutrition Facts app review: stay informed and stay full

Reviews

Introduction

Nutrition Facts is a useful little app for iPhone and iPad that you can use to find out the exact nutritional content of some of your favorite foods, including restaurants and fast food joints; ideal for staying full while remaining informed about what you’re putting into your body.

The best iPhone apps for nutrition

If you’re looking to lose some weight or simply control your current weight then it definitely makes a lot of sense to educate yourself a little when it comes to the nutritional content of the foods you eat on a daily basis.

For this reason, I’d suggest considering a food database app like this because it could tip the scales when it comes to your dieting success, if you’ll excuse the pun!

Limited Restaurant Coverage

This app contains a ton of information about various food items, including fast food and restaurants, and you can also add your own food items to create your own customized database. This should enable you to eat out with your friends and family while staying sensible about what you’re eating.

Although this app covers restaurants, the information is a little limited, so I’d recommend looking at the Pros & Cons section below before you make any decisions about whether or not to download it.

What’s more, you can add your most frequently eaten foods to your Favorites list for quick and easy future reference to the details of the calories, fat, carbs, and protein content. Much of this information is provided by the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference.

  • This app has received some fairly decent user feedback; however, the coverage of restaurants does seem to be a little limited: “I just bought this and am highly disappointed in it. The restaurant section has very little to choose from and if I had known this I definitely wouldn't have purchased it!”

Final Words

Nutrition Facts is a little limited in scope, and those of you who are already fairly well-versed in nutrition will probably fund it to be a little redundant, but if you’re just starting  to keep an eye on your waistline then I’d say it’s well worth keeping handy on your iPhone and iPad.
