This app features a ton of great music mainly from the Rap, Hip-Hop, and R&B genres, all free of charge. You can check out some of the hottest acts in the making and download your favorite tracks to build some sick playlists to share with your buddies online via social networking sites.
This is a pretty decent app and I especially like the red, black, and white visual theme of the interface. There is a great selection of music here and while it isn’t all to my taste, I would definitely recommend checking some of these artists out if you’re a fan of R&B.
This is a great app for finding new music if you’re into R&B; as soon as you start up the app for the first time you can register using your Facebook account – always a bonus to my mind – and you’ll immediately be presented with a list of some of the top Mixtapez.
There is a section where you can also watch music videos but so far I haven’t been able to get any of them to stream. The first time I attempted to load a video the app crashed and as I type this, I’m attempting to load my fourth video and none of them have streamed so far.
This might just be an issue with my connection but there almost definitely seem to be some issues with video streaming and stability.
More User Info
There are a fair few ads in the form of pop-up videos and banners at the bottom of the interface, but the developer offers the option to subscribe to the full version of My Mixtapez for $0.99 a month.
All in all, I’m not too impressed with the stability and general smoothness of how this app runs; it seems to be a little laggy at times and the streaming could certainly do with a bit of maintenance. I suppose this can be overcome by just downloading tracks that you like.
My Mixtapez definitely shines when it comes to the quality of the content, however, and I can’t recommend this app strongly enough to those of you who are looking to find some cool new tunes.
Share your favorite songs via Facebook and Twitter
Great visual layout
Video section appears non-functional
Streaming is somewhat slow
App stability definitely requires some attention
I wouldn’t say this is an excellent app but it definitely isn’t bad either.
I’m obviously pretty disappointed with the non-functional Videos section so I’m really hoping other users will pick up on this and prompt the developer to fix these issues in the next update.
I’ve listened to several songs so far and the audio quality seems quite reasonable, plus I really like the way you can share your favorite musical discoveries with others online – this definitely ought to be a standard feature on any app of this kind.
If you’re looking to get your hands on a bit of free music while also discovering a few new artists, My Mixtapez is a no-brainer and I don’t think you’ll be at all disappointed.
