4 Great Apps for iPhones and iPads

Apple's new range of devices is here, along with a great new version of iOS to run them, and whether you've gone out and invested in an iPhone 6 or you're still using an older one, you need stuff to put on it! Here's a look at some of our favorite current apps available on iTunes...

Turbo Dismount

If you've ever played Happy Wheels online, you'll know that simple graphics, coupled with amazing crash physics, can equal utter hilarity. Turbo Dismount is the successor to the classic Stair Dismount, in which - in a nutshell - you got to push a guy down some stairs, repeatedly. This time, Mr Dismount is invited to survive impacts with a variety of cars and trucks, as you create your own street-based mayhem. There's a slow-motion replay option so you can enjoy the bone-splintering horror at your leisure.

Bovada Mobile Sports

Sports betting, especially online, is all about trust and security - or it should be. Bovada's iOS app is safe to use and easy to navigate, and has the seal of approval from sports news and information site bettingsports.com, which reviews various sportsbooks in terms of reputation, ease of deposit and withdrawal and customer service. The Bovada app gives you all the sports news you need, and you can place a wager directly from your iPad or iPhone.

Zite

There are several apps out there that do a good job of aggregating news stories so you don't have to scroll through half a dozen different news sites, and Zite is one of our favorites. The Wall Street Journal called it "a smarter way to handle information overload". The beauty of Zite is that it's extremely customizable; you can pick highly specific topics and it'll keep you updated, but it also learns from your reading habits. After a while it'll be making useful recommendations just for you. It's also beautifully designed, so you'll want to keep going back to it

Cheatsheet

Updated in mid-October with new icons and other features, Cheatsheet can be thought of as a brain-replacement app for people who regularly forget phone numbers, addresses and the like (which is everyone, right?) If you've ever had to delve into the depths of your phone when someone asks you for your license plate or social security number, you'll love it. There's a tap-and-hold copying function for pasting info into Cheatsheet, and all your information is accessible simply by going to Notification Center. Simple icons direct you to the relevant information.
