Report: iPhone 6 to have curved display, all-aluminium rear shell

According to a new report from Mac Otakara, Apple’s next iPhone might feature a curved display and rounded edges. The report cites “reliable sources” and claims that the iPhone 6’s cover glass will sit flush to the rounded corners instead of the straight edges seen on the 5S.

The report also claims that Apple will move to an all-aluminum design, removing the rear glass antenna breaks. This will require significant changes to the overall antenna layout. HTC’s latest flagship, the One M8, offers a unibody metal design, and it has been praised by critics. It’s entirely possible that Apple wants to adopt this design. Apple has already done unibody designs on its MacBook range.

The curved glass display makes sense, given the device is expected to be a larger size: 4.7 inches on the smaller model. The curved glass might make the device feel smaller, and that will be essential to help those who currently prefer the 4-inch form factor.
