In June, Apple officials talked about HomeKit, which is the platform through which users can communicate with home gadgets. For Apple to be as successful as it wants, some companies will have to develop gadgets that will use apps through the App Store using the HomeKit framework. This is where the smart lock, called August, by Yves Béhar comes in. August will connect with HomeKit; it’s an electronic lock that will allow your guests to use keyless entry using their smartphones via Bluetooth. Through the August app, you can say for how long they will have access, and on which days, and the lock will open as they approach the door if they have the app downloaded on their devices.
