You’ve probably never really thought about what happens when germs attempt to grow, but the developer of this fun little game has certainly taken that concept and turned into a great adventure where you’ll be able to develop your own germs and rack up some massive high scores in the process.
Germy World utilizes the tilt detection functionality of your iPhone in order to enable you to control the microbes as they float around the screen. Your basic goal is to combine different colored germs in order to create chains and score enough points to move on to the next level.
I found the control system ever so slightly disorientating when I first started playing, but the first level is packed with hints and tips to help you learn how to move around, and what to do with the various power-ups and obstacles that you’ll encounter as you progress through the game.
Visit Your Abominations in the Laboratory
The basic premise is that you have to combine germs of the same color to create chains, and when you then add a differently colored germ to the chain, it will mutate into what can only be described as some kind of cutesy abomination!
The bigger the chain, the more points you will score, and as the timer counts down the seconds you’ll have to take advantage of the score multipliers to earn yourself more time so that you can hit each checkpoint and make it to the end of the level.
As you create more and more interesting combinations of germs, you’ll be able to visit your laboratory to see the monstrosities you’ve given birth to, bringing a whole new meaning to the old Pokémon tag line, “Gotta Catch ‘em All”!
