BotZ app review: blast your way through the robotic onslaught and protect your city

Introduction

Hundreds of billions of destructive robots known as BotZ have been consuming galaxy after galaxy in a relentless march of annihilation across the cosmos. You've been placed in charge of the Olympus Defense Network to stem the tide and draw the line in the sand right here, right now.

While this game certainly receives very few points for a varied gameplay experience, this is an awesome blast-‘em-up with some gorgeous visuals and a very immersive audio soundtrack which I think combine to create a very ominous atmosphere overall.

With the Olympus Defense Network at your disposal you’re quite literally armed to the teeth, so if you think you’ve got what it takes to face off with a zillion and one robots, you’d best get to it!

Blast Those BotZ!

When you first start playing BotZ you’ll be treated to a very nicely designed home screen which I think sets the tone perfectly for what’s to come. I would recommend tapping the Data icon in the bottom-right of the screen as this will provide you with the Olympus Array Operating Manual.

The Olympus Defense Network itself is comprised of huge “crystallic megastructures” which sit at the heart of every major city in the galaxy. These structures are used to harvest energy and power the cities, but they can also be used to unleash incredible amounts of destructive force, and you’ve been put in charge of just such an array!

 

One Person Against a Trillion-Strong Robot Army

As wave after wave of BotZ attack, your job is to rapidly tap the enemies which appear on the screen in order to harness the power of the Olympus Array and blast them out of the sky.

As the game progresses, you’ll also come across various items that you can collect with a simple tap. These include things such as boosts to your health, boosts to your energy reservoir, and even new weapons to help you unleash even more destruction on your attackers.

This game is very simple but I promise you that it is no walk in the park. As you complete each successive wave, the pace will increase and the enemies will become tougher and tougher. You’d best sharpen your wits and keep an eye on your energy reservoir lest you deplete your reserves!
