Man at Arms TD app review: taking Kingdom Rush to the next level 2021

Reviews

Introduction

I have played many tower defense games in my time, and there are only one or two that really deserve the top spot. Those two have been the same for a long while now, specifically Plants vs Zombies (the first one) and both Kingdom Rush games.

The best iPad apps for tower defense

Color me impressed when my boss asks me to review this war and battle app and the price is $4.99! This mean it either has to be a good battle games app for iPhone, or simply a waste of time and money.

Luckily, developer Inert Soap has looked at Kingdom Rush carefully and has not only emulated the best things from this game but also greatly improved it on some fronts.

Gameplay

When I first started playing Man at Arms TD, I got really annoyed. It works almost exactly the same as Kingdom Rush, but with slight differences.

The best iPad apps for tactical games

After the first two or three levels Man at Arms TD proved me wrong. As with every tower defense game you need to stop the enemies from passing through a portal at the end. You will have an arsenal of towers you place next to the road to stop them.

This is where Man at Arms differs. There are so many different towers and versions of towers in the game that your experience will never be the same as any other person playing it.

This game combines the traditional tower defense game with a collectible card game. You can combine all kinds of cards to make the best arsenal to defeat the enemy!

Collecting Cards and Getting New Ones

Every time you defeat a level, you will receive some extra cards. Some of these are preset in the early levels, but later in the game these will be completely random.

Sometimes you will also receive cards during a level. There are defensive and offensive cards. The offensive cards are used in an online mode where other players will try and beat your offensive deck (consisting of the monsters you encounter in single player) and get higher in the rankings.

Lastly there is also a level editor, which is not too easy to use, though I’m sure some whiz kids out there can make some incredible content with it.

Conclusion

I will keep this short. If you liked Kingdom Rush and you’ve finished every level, give this game a definite go. This will keep you busy for hours, combining cards and replaying levels until you feel like you should go online.

There is a huge amount of depth found in this game that I haven’t found in any other tower defense game. The game is compatible for iPad and costs $4.99. That’s cheap for the amount of hours you will lose.
