Blosics Price: $0.99 For: iPhone, iPod touch, iPad with iOS 3.1 or later The Blosics app by FDG Entertainment is a physics-based puzzle game that has you shooting at huge structures made from colored blocks. Sounds easy enough, right? You would think so, but these blocks are alive, and have their own ways of thwarting your efforts. Your goal is to knock them down using different balls and some strategy. Each level has a different structure and challenge. When you first start the game, your ball is pretty weak. You basically learn how the game will go during these levels, since your ball isn’t actually strong enough to really knock down anything. Each level you complete earns you up to three stars. The more levels you pass, the more you unlock. The more stars you earn, the more balls are unlocked, each with its own capabilities. One of the tricks of the game is that each ball costs points to use. The toss up is between whether you should use a ball to try to gain a star, or leave the ball for another level. A smart player, for example, wouldn’t use an expensive ball on a really difficult level unless he or she knew that the chances were good to complete the level successfully. Sometimes you have to re-do a level many times in order to earn the stars and increase your score. Players also have to
experiment and see which balls work the best depending on the structure in that level. The controls are easy to use and the physics are realistic. The artwork is appealing and there are tons of levels – 120, in fact. Blosics was updated to Version 1.1 on February 2, 2012. The update added 48 challenges. The game is rated for kids four and up, and is available in English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, and Polish. All versions have 1,664 ratings with an average of 4.5 out of five stars, while the current version has 1,339 ratings with an average of 4.5 stars. User feedback comments are positive.
