VLC Streamer by Hobbyist Software Limited lets you stream videos from any PC in your house to your mobile device.

Many people now have entire collections of movies backed up on their computers that they watch on a regular basis using a media player like VLC Player. Imagine now that you are two rooms away from your computer and want to watch a movie; you simply need to open VLC Streamer and you have access to that entire movie collection on your PC from your device.

The free helper app gets you up and running in a jiffy and teaches you how to browse your local drives and find the media content. All of the movies are streamed over Wi-Fi so you must be connected to the same network as your media computer to view the content.

As an added bonus you can copy media from your computer to your device for later viewing. You could take movies with you on a long flight or a drive and watch them when you are not connected to your home network. The support for this app covers Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

VLC Streamer was last updated to Version 2.65 on April 1, 2013 and included various tweaks and fixes as well as some translation updates. There have been five reviews for the current version with an average score of four out of five stars.

This app is a really great addition to my media center. I can watch movies from any room in my house and don’t have to be sitting in front of my TV where the media PC is. Definitely a good buy with this app.
