Ruzzle

Price: Free

For: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad with iOS 4.3 or later

Ruzzle by MAG Interactive is a fast-paced, incredibly fun word game app for your iOS.

You can challenge your friends or play random opponents in this game, and with over nine million players, you’ll never be short an opponent. The goal is to find the most words in two minutes.

Swipe your finger across the 4 x 4 grid of letters to find as many words as possible. Letters can form into words as long as they’re connected; you’ll get more or less points depending on word length, letter scores, and bonus pieces you use. The person with the highest total score after three rounds wins.

Ruzzle is integrated with Word Center and you can play whenever you want. Play for as long or as short of a duration as you like, in rounds of two minutes.

Gameplay is really fantastic and the appearance of the app is quite top-notch. It’s a great Boggle-type game but doesn’t come across as a cheap knockoff.

If you want to practice offline, you can get the in-app purchase for Ruzzle Premium for $2.99.

Ruzzle was updated to Version 1.4.4 on January 3, 2013. The update improved stability and made some bug fixes. The current version has 86 ratings with an average of 4.5 out of five stars. Feedback comments are all positive.

I find it almost impossible to put down this game. I always loved Boggle as a kid, and this app is really very similar. The option to play against anyone is a huge bonus. Word puzzle enthusiasts should all download this free game.
