WiFi Hotspot Protector app review: protect the personal and financial data on your device

Reviews

Introduction

WiFi Hotspot Protector by KeepSolid Inc. is a security app designed to protect your personal and financial data from hackers that might be looking for any opportunity to steal information from an unsuspecting target. There’s no doubt that the free WiFi hotspots scattered all over the country are a great convenience, but they also expose you to a lot of risks when other people using the network are less than honest. If you don’t want to become a victim the services of an app like WiFi Hotspot Protector are a great idea.  This is a free app, although you’ll need to purchase a plan to block other users, and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Use Public Wi-Fi without Worrying About the Security of Your Device

WiFi Hotspot Protector has a lot of competition in the App Store: there are a lot of apps in this category with varying degrees of sophistication, but this app actually measures up quite well to all of them. You do have to pay for most of its features, but this is not uncommon in similar apps. What makes this one standout from the crowd is its ease of use. For a high-security app it’s surprisingly simple to use. Most people don’t bother with extra security on their devices because they think that it’s too complicated to set up so creating a security app that’s so simple to use is a great idea.

The biggest drawback to this app is of course the cost of subscription to the service; although a 1-year subscription will only cost you $19.99, which isn’t unreasonable. If you’ve got any questions or concerns you can access the developers site from within the app by tapping on the menu icon in the top left corner, then tapping on information, visiting the products website, and finally tapping on the FAQ page. Everything you need to know is there, but it would be better if they made it easier to find. This app will require 9.3 MB of available space on your iOS device.

The Essentials

This app couldn’t be much easier to use. When you open it up you’ll see a nice clean interface with the name of your device at the top, as well as the IP address that is connecting the WiFi hotspot to the Internet. Below this is a big button that either indicates your protection is turned on, or that it’s turned off. To turn it on you will have to get set up with a subscription first. To do this you just tap on the button and purchase a subscription from the App Store.

You are able to see the devices that could potentially access your device without permission without a subscription; you simply tap on Show All Devices at the bottom of the page. The app will then open a new page where you can see all the other devices that are connected to the hotspot. It works quite well.
