GoodNotes Free

Price: Free

GoodNotes Free by Time Base Technology Limited makes note-taking and sketches a breeze.

The app lets you mark up your PDF files, draw diagrams, and take handwritten notes. Then you can organize them all on your virtual bookshelf. Use the swipe function to turn through the pages, add your notes on any page, highlight text, and then share your notes with others.

When it comes to note-taking you can use plain, graph, ruled, or music papers. You're able to insert images and text, choose from five different highlighters, use 10 different colored pens, and use the eraser. The close-up input feature will shrink your handwriting for you.

If you want to import a file you can do so from your photo library, the iPad camera, a document from iTunes sharing, PDFs, images, and there is a built-in Dropbox browser.

To makes sure your notes are never lost there is an auto-save function that saves your file every 15 seconds. As well you can opt to back-up your notes.

Other useable features include support of AirPrint, folder support, external display support, WiFi transfer of files, page view history, and bookmark capability.

GoodNotes Free was updated on Feb. 17, 2013 and currently has 354 customer ratings with an average rating of five out of five stars.

I loved that this app made it so easy for me to jot down notes, ideas, and sketches on the go. No matter where I was I could easily put down my thoughts and ideas without having to search for a pen and paper.

For: iPad with iOS 5.0 or later
