Grocery List - Buy Me a Pie! app review: save time and paper with conveniently color-coded lists

Reviews

Introduction

This is what I’d like to think of as a grocery list app done right! Buy Me a Pie! makes it easier than you could ever imagine to quickly create grocery lists, and with color-coding, predictive text, and a vast database of common food and lifestyle items, you’ll be able to save time and paper on your next trip to the supermarket.

Upon first starting up this app I wondered where all the features were, but then I quickly realized that Buy Me a Pie! is incredibly well put-together and offers a fairly minimalist design without any unnecessary clutter.

You can easily create grocery lists and then share them with others, which is ideal for giving your friend or spouse suggestions if they’re on the way to the grocery store.

This is What List Creation Apps Should Look Like!

Creating shopping lists really has never been easier or more intuitive!

To add items to your lists, you simply begin typing the first few letters and then Buy Me a Pie! will produce suggestions based on the pre-set entries in the item database or items you’ve previous inputted.

Different categories of items such as fruits and vegetables, non-perishable foods, and cosmetics are color-coded so you can find them far quicker. Furthermore, when you add new items into the app you can apply a color to them as well, so after using Buy Me a Pie! for a few shopping trips you’ll probably be able to throw your lists together in a matter of seconds.

Bump to Pair Sharing Support

One thing I really love about this app is the way you can browse through your different shopping lists in a tabbed browser format, somewhat akin to Safari. This makes it very easy to cycle among different lists and means you can keep things categorized for more effectively.

Once you’re happy with the list you’ve created, you can print the list or share it with others via text message or email. You can also use the “bump to pair” feature to share lists with others simply by, as the name would suggest, bumping your two iPhones together.

The developer couldn’t have made this app more convenient if they tried; it's fantastic stuff!

Final Words

There are obviously plenty of free grocery list apps out there but they really do pale in comparison to this one. Remember that you can use this for far more than just grocery lists so I would suggest experimenting and seeing what you can come up with.

I’m always impressed when I can see that the developer of an app has taken a relatively tired genre and breathed new life into it with unique and innovative ideas.

That is exactly what we have here with Buy Me a Pie! and just for the record, I love the name!
