As part of the Digital India program, the Indian central government developed numerous applications during the last five years to provide services more quickly and with less bureaucratic intervention and improve the performance and interface of current apps. We've compiled a selection of popular government apps that will assist you in obtaining services through your smartphone. Every Indian must install these essential applications. The Government of India has released mobile applications, which we have discussed in this article:

BHIM

The Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) software was developed by the National Payments Corporation of India's (NPCI) Finance division. It is based on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and is one of the most trustworthy apps in India for conducting cashless transactions. Customers may use the BHIM app to send and receive money and monitor their bank balances. Additionally, they may make an online purchase. The software is available in 13 regional languages (Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, and Urdu). It is available for download and usage on both Google Play and the Apple App Store.

IRCTC

It is a recreation of the former Indian Railways. The simple design streamlines services with a swipe motion, shuffle, pick, and book. The app's primary features include train search, general ticket booking, particular women ticket booking, Tatkal & Premium-Tatkal quota ticketing, and ticket cancellation. It is integrated with the IRCTC's NGeT Website and NGeT Mobile App, allowing customers to see, cancel, and submit TDRs for e-tickets purchased through the official website. Additionally, the app offers real-time reservation information and notifies the user through phone notifications.

Digilocker

Digilocker provides secure cloud storage for critical documents such as diplomas, driver's licenses, and other government service papers. Additionally, it is retrievable by phone and presented to a government authority for verification. Users may provide a digital copy of their Aadhaar card or driving license at airport security checkpoints and when requested by traffic cops in any region of India. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology created the software, which is accessible on both the Play Store and the App Store.

Seva mPassport

If you want to get a passport or complete a verification procedure, you should install mPassport Seva. The software was created by the Government of India's Consular, Passport, and Visa (CPV) Division. Applicants may check the status of their application, locate the closest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK), and general access information such as the papers needed for verification and the different stages involved in getting a passport.

Additionally, it will provide real-time police verification status and instructions on appealing a passport office refusal.

Umang

Umang (Unified Mobile Application for New-Generation Governance) is an outstanding application developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the National e-Government Division. Umang serves as a centralized portal via which all people may access all government agencies and services. The app may be integrated with third-party applications such as Aadhaar, DigiLocker, and PayGov. According to the government, all new similar services will be incorporated into the platform automatically. Additionally, it enables Aadhaar-based and other forms of authentication for service access. Users' sensitive data is stored in an encrypted manner that is inaccessible to outsiders. Additionally, this software enables users to get a PAN card, check their Provident Fund (PF) balance, submit income tax returns, and pay utility bills. Additionally, this software is accessible in thirteen regional languages.

Apart from mobile applications, the government has also established official websites to help the general public. GST and MahaDBT are two of those portals. GST is the official site of the Indian government, which has simplified taxation for taxpayers by offering a range of various taxpaying services, and MahaDBT is the state of Maharashtra's online scholarship portal. MahaDBT is a state-funded scholarship program for students who are unable to pay their tuition owing to inflation.

Incredible India

Incredible India is a tourism application created by the Ministry of Tourism. It is a one-of-a-kind experience for both domestic and international visitors. It depicts a well-known holistic destination centered on significant experiences like spirituality, history, adventure, culture, yoga, and wellness. The mobile application was created with the modern traveller in mind. It provides detailed information about tourist destinations, including government-authorized travel companies, hotels, train transportation facility details, the best time to visit a particular location, as well as important festival dates.
