Spotify offers $3 per month for customers to stay away from Apple’s App Store

Spotify has offered a $3 per month savings for customers who to convert to a web-based subscription and avoid Apple’s App Store. Currently, people who sign up for Premium subscriptions through the App Store pay $12.99. Apple takes 30 percent of that. Spotify is offering anyone to go around the App Store and sign up online a subscription fee of $9.99. The offer went out by email, according to a report by Apple Insider.

One of Apple’s rules, however, is that apps can’t link to external storefronts, which is likely why Spotify has started emailing customers. We’ll see if Apple does anything about this, considering Spotify isn’t exactly breaking the rules.
