Piano ∞app review: learn, play, and create your very own piano compositions

Reviews

Introduction

With free Play mode, integrated lessons, and a dedicated facility for recording your very own compositions, Piano ∞ truly contains everything that every budding pianist needs to up their game and really become a fantastic iPianist!

The Best Piano Tuner Apps for iPad

It should go without saying that the iOS equivalent of a musical instrument is never going to size up to the real thing, but this app certainly does offer some great sounds while also serving as a soft introduction to the world of musicianship for the unaccustomed.

I would definitely recommend this piano learning app as I really think it could inspire a lot of people to begin learning to play the piano, or any other musical instrument for that matter.

Everybody Do the Mess Around!

When you first start using Piano ∞, I would recommend beginning with the Play section as this enables you to simply play freely so that you can get used to the control system and learn where all of the individual controls are for the piano.

Within this screen you’ll notice a few icons running along the top, and by tapping the piano icon you can choose between a handful of different keyboard sounds including Grand Piano, Organ, and Harpsichord.

There is also an adjustable metronome alongside the piano icon which can be set to any tempo you like; just remember to start slower than you think you need as this is where real dexterity will develop in the long-term rather than you sloppily learning bad habits by speeding ahead too soon.

Being a musician and a creative spirit myself, my favorite part of this app is the Create section which allows you to record your own compositions.

This is a very cool feature in my books, and I really like how you can easily scroll through your recordings note by note, and even view the sheet music for your piece which is automatically generated when you tap on the keys.

If you’re simply looking to rock out to some well known tunes then you’ll want to check out the Jam section which contains a selection of classic songs which are sure to keep you busy for quite some time. There are also more than a thousand additional songs which you can download via in-app purchase.

Final Words

There isn’t really much else for me to say about Piano ∞ other than to reiterate that although it’ll never come close to a real grand piano, it’s about as close as you’re going to get from a mobile device, so I would definitely recommend checking it out.
