Introduction
If you or your baby have been having trouble sleeping lately, or perhaps you’re due to embark on a long car ride or journey by plane, then this sleeping aid app is going to provide a great deal of relief. It contains a large number of soothing background sounds with the added bonus of enabling you to also record your own.
I’ve come across quite a few different sleep aid and baby soothing apps over the past several months but stumbling upon this little gem has made me realize what they all appear to be missing: the option to record your own sounds!
It seems like such a simple addition to a sleeping aid app for parents like this but clearly the developer of Sound Sleeper has been one of the few to actually think of it, so kudos to them!

Rockabye Mommy
When you first start up Sound Sleeper: calming soothing sounds of nature and white noise machine for newborn, infant and baby with sleep tracking, you’ll be taken straight to the Sounds section which contains a list of the ambient soothing sounds, which includes:
- Car Ride;
- Fan;
- Market;
- Mountain River;
- Ocean;
- Pond;
- Rain
- Shhhh;
- Thunderstorm;
- Vacuum Cleaner; and
- Womb.
Some of these will, of course, be particularly soothing to your baby, while some of them, such has the Market, will probably be more suitable to you. I would still recommend trying them all out on your little one to see which sounds he or she likes the best.
Track Your Baby's Sleep Patterns
Tapping on one of the sounds will bring up a high-resolution picture relevant the theme of the sound, and you’ll be able to adjust a few different settings such as the volume and duration. You can also tap the Listen button to simply have the sounds play indefinitely.
If you visit the Info section you’ll be able to toggle Sleep Tracking on, and then I’d suggest checking out the Tracking section itself which, as the app itself describes, does as follows:
“Sound Sleeper can track your baby’s sleep patterns automatically when you use the “Listen” mode. […] Keep in mind that the sound duration will be set automatically by the sleep tracking algorithm and cannot be modified.”
From here, you’ll be able to see a graph clearly showing the time your baby has spent asleep and awake over the past 24 to 48 hours.
