LensTutorial app review: a handy photography companion app 2021

Reviews

Introduction

Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or you just picked up your first SLR camera and you haven’t the faintest idea of where to start, this iPhone app is sure to provide everything you need to specify the perfect settings on your camera to snap some great shots every single time.

The best camera apps for the iPhone

I’d like to preface this review by stating that this app looks great and runs like a charm, but I don’t really know the first thing about photography, so much of the nomenclature used in this camera app is lost on me.

With this in mind, I’m going to lay out the basic functionality of LensTutorial so that you guys can get a feel for exactly what it offers. This way you can make a fairer assessment of whether or not it’s the right tool for you.

Is this a top camera app for iPhone? Check out our LensTutorial app review to find out.

Find the Perfect Lens Settings

LensTutorial features a wonderfully simplistic interface which is based around just one or two screens, with most of the functionality being available within the main home screen.

Best iphone and ipad apps

The home screen includes a top-down image of a human subject, with a camera set a ways back from him. You’ll see lines protruding from the camera at various angles, and these represent a few different things:

  • The distance between the camera and the subject in feet;
  • The rotation of the Zoom; and
  • The rotation of the Aperture

These three settings can be adjusted by using the sliders at the bottom of the screen. These have been designed to operate in a similar way to what you would find on a physical camera, which I personally think is a nice little touch by the developer.

Learn How to Capture the Perfect Shot

If you tap the arrow icon near the bottom-right of the screen, you’ll reach the Settings menu. From here, you can specify the make and model of your camera. You can also upgrade the distance, zoom, and aperture of your lens by unlocking these options via in-app purchase.

Once you’ve fiddled around with the settings for a bit and have found the perfect lens adjustments to capture the ideal shot, it’s time to share your newfound wisdom with the world.

This can be achieved by sharing the settings with your friends and family online via Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Vkontakte, and email. Alternatively, you can simply print or save the settings to your Photo Album for quick and easy future reference.
