PC Plus app review: new points and an app out of the gate 2021

Introduction

PC Plus is the rewards app to the recently introduced PC Plus Points card. PC Financial along with Loblaws has decided that they will release a points system to the customers who do not want to bank with PC Financial.

Previously, only those with PC Financial could take advantage of the PC Points to earn free groceries, now anyone who takes the time to sign up can benefit from PC Points through this app for collecting rewards.

Card or SmartPhone

Unlike a lot of points systems, the PC Plus points system immediately went to a card or app option. If you are an existing PC Financial customer, you can simply link your existing bank care or MasterCard to your new PC Plus account.

If you are a new member, you get a points card, but you can download the app and log in to get personalized bonus points on frequently bought grocery items.

Due to the immediate introduction of the app, you don’t have to carry an extra card at all! You can scan the barcode on your smart phone! I love that I now earn even more free groceries, and didn’t even have to sign up for yet another points card to carry in my already full wallet.

Personalized Points

As I mentioned above, PC Plus learns your shopping habits, and the app presents you with sales and bonus points on your frequently bought items.

For example, I was immediately told I could get an extra 100pc plus points on a can of tuna. I eat a lot of tuna as a lunch staple, so I bought my 6 cans happily getting 600 bonus points!

To those of you new to PC Points, 20,000 is $20 so it takes a while to save up, but you’d be surprised at how fast it does add up when getting points every grocery shop. We save about $300 a year as a family of 5.

Additionally, within the app are recipes and other tidbits of information to make your grocery shopping go more smoothly. You can even great a grocery list in this app! I have yet to utilize this as I have my preferred grocery app, but while testing it out at home it was easy to add and check off items.

• If you forget your phone you won’t get points if you are an app only user

Final Thoughts

PC Plus really took the current trends into consideration when they created their program. People don’t want another card, but they likely have a smartphone. We’ll make an app for that! I love it!

I have the app to see where I can save extra money, and linked the program to my existing PC Financial cards. This way I’m double covered. Either way, way to go PC Plus!
