Some games and sports are just not meant to be played digitally, such as Curling, Cycling, Running and, until I played this game, Darts. I always thought that Darts was a sport that you should play with friends while enjoying a good beer and a lot of banter. iWare Designs Ltd. changed my mind on this completely with Pro Darts 2020.

This game app, compatible with both iPad and iPhone, actually achieved the impossible, making Darts fun to play one on a touch screen. Many have tried before but no one has ever succeeded until now.

Graphics and Sound

The first thing I need to say is that I have never seen a digital darts game look like an actual real-life darts game. The ones I’ve played before all looked like they stepped from a cartoon, or had such bad graphics that I simply shut the app down straight away.

Pro Darts 2020 takes all of this to the next level. The graphics look almost realistic and there are many different boards to pick from, just like in real life. The music in the game is a bit annoying, but luckily can be switched off.

There are no other sounds in the game than this annoying music. I would have loved a voice shouting out scores, or even the sound of a dart hitting the board, but these are all missing.

Gameplay

The gameplay is where Pro Darts 2020 shines. You simply touch the screen and swipe to throw. The longer you swipe the further your dart will fly and how high it will go. It’s hard to explain, but it simply feels right.

You can play all kinds of different games on different boards, but regrettably, not all these are included in the free game. You can unlock different games, tournament and league modes, and all other kinds of darting goodness for a mere $4.99.

With all the content this game offers, I think it would definitely be worth it. You can also purchase separate games or modes from the in-game shop.

Conclusion

Pro Darts 2020 is by far the best darts game I have ever played. It’s fun to play, easy to pick up, has tons of content and on top of all of this it also looks like a darts game should.

The game modes available in the free version are already quite substantial, but playing tournaments and leagues mean that you will have to buy the full game, which is priced at $4.99. The game is compatible with both iPad and iPhone and you can try it out for free. The game is just over 80 MB
