Impaktor app review: turns any surface into a playable percussion instrument 2021

Reviews

Introduction

All you desk tappers out there are going to have an absolute field day with this iPhone and iPad drums app which allows you to miraculously transform any surface into a playable percussion instrument, complete with a variety of filters, effects, and a 6-track audio recorder.

The best iPhone and iPad apps for musicians

I’m actually really impressed by this iPhone drums app, and I’ve been having a great time playing around with it. Whenever I’m at the gym and listening to music I can’t help but tap benches and other surfaces like a mad man, probably getting a few funny looks while I’m at it.

My fidgety fingers are in their element with Impaktor, and I’m not even a drummer, so I can imagine that the drummers amongst you guys are going to really enjoy seeing what this good drums app for iPhone users has to offer.

Turn Any Surface Into a Percussion Instrument

Impaktor - The drum synthesizer has been designed to provide drummers, percussionists, and general fidgets with a way of turning any surface into a playable percussion instrument, and this is definitely a novel concept that I’ve not come across before.

The best iPad apps for music lovers

The easiest way to explain how this works is to include an excerpt from the iTunes description page, which reads as follows: “The real acoustical impulses from the built-in microphone are used as an excitation source for advanced sound modules that simulates behavior of membranes, cymbals, metallophones or strings.

Featuring a Six-Track Recorder

In addition to this, Impaktor also includes a fairly basic 6-track recorder that you can use to lay down some very cool drum tracks before exporting them as a wave file via AudioCopy to be used in other apps.

There are loads of filters and effects available, including modulation of velocity and LFO-envelope, plus you’ll also find a few different types of amplifiers to choose from to ensure that you get the exact sound you’re looking for.

Final Words

Impaktor - The drum synthesizer is a very interesting iPhone and iPad app that has left me thoroughly impressed with the ingenuity and skill of the development team which has put it together.

Simple to use and highly effective, Impaktor is amazingly cheap for what it is capable of, and I would very much recommend that you guys take it for a spin because there don’t appear to be many comparable developments of this kind.
