The best fitness apps for the iPhone

This ear training app contains a collection of 15 customizable exercises designed to enhance your musicality on your iPhone and iPad, in addition to five different calculators that you can use to determine intervals, chords, accidentals, and loads more.

If you’re serious about learning about music theory then you absolutely have to download this ear training practice app. I’m considering spending a bit more time using Tenuto after finishing this review because my sight reading skills are basically non-existent and running through some of the exercises has been very humbling indeed!

Despite playing multiple instruments, I’m a guitarist at heart so I never took the time early on to learn how to read music even in its simplest forms. Tenuto has got me pretty excited to approach that aspect of musicianship with a redeemed sense of enthusiasm!

Ditch the Music Tutor

Tenuto offers more than a dozen different exercises that you can use on a daily basis to practice and sharpen up the various aspects of your musicality, largely centered on sight reading and being able to correctly identify tones by ear. All of this for less than the cost of a single music lesson!

There are a few different visual formats that you can used based on your orientation, so if you are a pianist then you can use a keyboard layout and if you’re a guitarist then you might prefer to use the fretboard.

For your ear training practice you can tap the button corresponding to the highlighted piano key(s). If the C and G keys are highlighted, tap the "P5" (Perfect 5th) button. Tap the button corresponding to the marked fretboard position(s) in this ear training app. If the 2nd fret of the D string is marked, tap the "E" button.
