Status Bar Themes is an iPad and iPhone app that allows you to add a splash of color to your status bar, dock and more. Rather than having boring ghost colors, you can select your favorite colors.

Does it Work?

When I first opened up Status Bar Themes I wasn't sure if it would work. There area a lot of ratios to take into consideration when creating a holder for a certain function such as the dots for the battery being the exact size as the ones that will appear on your screen over top. When I added my personalized image to my lock screen, there were no problems. My camera icon lined up, my battery and signal dots were perfect. I'm still working on getting my home screen wallpaper worked out, but obviously it can be done.

What I like is that there are so many options. If you are making one for your home screen, don't add the camera icon, but you can add it for your lock screen. Or, if you like green and purple, you can absolutely add green to the top and purple to the bottom. The combinations are endless.

Options

In Status Bar Themes, you can add an image of your own, or choose one of the app backgrounds. Next you select whether to add a calendar overlay, select the color for your status bar background, if you want to add a frame to your status bar, and a shadow. These are the main customizations, but after this, you can also add the control panel and notification center nodes, a frame to those, and additional images. When you add the control panel and notification nodes, the camera icon automatically appears and is given the same options.

I also like that you can select to have the camera icon turned on for your lock screen, but turn it off for the home screen if you want to have pretty much the same image. All you have to do is save it once with and once without, and you’re done!

Final Thoughts

Status Bar Themes is an iPad and iPhone app that allows you to customize your wallpaper right down to the color of your battery and signal strength.  It is a small app, so you can keep it on your device even if you only change your background once a month or so. I also like all the customization options, as they truly are limitless. Overall, it's a great design and easy to use.
