HGP app review: a language-learning tool

Whether you want to pick up some Spanish for your upcoming trip to Latin America, or you want to learn to speak another language for business purposes, HGP is an app that will help you master any language you're wishing to learn.

This app combines all the tools available in targeted language-learning apps, but allows users to customize these tools so that any language can be learned the way the user wishes. This makes the app perfect for autodidactics.

HGP Podcasts, Twitter, & More

HGP is a popular language-learning podcast which has been converted into an app. It is available in the Education section of the App Store, where it can be downloaded completely free of charge. It comes packed with multiple tools to help you master that language and continue learning on the go, no matter where you are or what you're doing.

Some of us are sonic learners while some of us are visual learners. This app allows you to use the tools in a variety of ways that fit your learning style the best. Aside from language learning tools, which I'll get to in a minute, this app also allows you access to the HGP podcasts while also providing you with the Twitter feed so you may follow all the latest happenings over at the HGP headquarters.

Functions & Features

This app allows users to create their very own flashcards to memorize commonly-occurring words. A handwriting tool allows users to practice writing letters for languages that are in other scripts such as Mandarin, Japanese, or Hindi. Users can also jot down notes that can be shared via email.

You'll be pleased to know that this app allows the opening of PDFs so that users can download worksheets straight to the app. Recording features are also available so you can listen to yourself pronouncing certain words and phrases that you would like to practice.

If this is not enough, you will also be provided with links to other websites that you can bookmark and browse through at your leisure for further learning.

Final Words

If you are looking to pick up a language, then HGP is a must-have app on your iPhone or iPad, especially if you are the kind of person that likes to teach things to themselves rather than rely on rote learning. I'll be using this app to brush up on my Spanish to surprise a dear friend who is a Spaniard.
