The game of word search is a classic one that never seems to grow old; with that said, why not impart some modern twists in it to keep it challenging and fun. The Word Search app for your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone provides a selection of game modes so you can really mix things up. With more than 30,000 words to search for over a span of 1,000 grids there is no shortage of gameplay. In any given game you'll be searching for 20 to 40 words.

Endless Word Searching Fun

One of the greatest features in the Word Search app is that you can literally play this game for endless amounts of time. As mentioned there are more than 30,000 words for you to search on grids that contain 100 squares and anywhere between 20 to 40 words. If at any time you want to restart the game you can do so and at the same time if you need to step away the game can be resumed or just paused. You can even learn a little from this app thanks to the built-in dictionary. Look up words any time to understand their meaning but keep in mind this feature requires an Internet connection.

In its last update, which was two years ago, optimizations were made so it would be compatible with iOS 6, which is clearly out of date now. There were also some revisions and bug fixes at the time. The app still enjoys a solid four out of five stars from users who like the variety of the game modes and the gameplay, but some have commented on the fact there are errors in how words are spelled.

As mentioned you've got a selection of game modes to choose from in the Word Search. Choose to play in Easy, Medium, Bishop, or Hard mode, or if you'd rather there are two timer modes which will really add a sense of urgency and pressure to the game. What’s great is that the app supports Game Center so you can see exactly how you stack up against other players, including your friends.

What's cool is that more than one player can use the app and have their own Game Session so that your stats are kept separate. As an added bonus there are sound effects and background music if you want. There are 10 different Leaderboards to climb, 65 Achievements, and 100 Cups and Medals to be awarded.
