When you fire up Flamm - Make GIF Arts on your iPhone or iPad, you'll be taken to the in-app camera without further ado. The top two-thirds of your screen will serve as the viewfinder while the bottom has options such as Flash, rear or front camera toggle, History, Album, and of course, a big blue capture button.

There is also an unobtrusive circle on the camera viewfinder, and segments of it will start to darken, showing you how many shots you have left. You can create GIFs of up to 40 stills, which can be previewed in thumbnail right there on the camera screen. If you want to re-shoot, you can simply tap on the cross button beside the capture button.

When you're happy with your GIF, you need to tap on the thumbnail which will take you to the editing screen. Here you can apply a number of effects categorized into four sections, namely Basic, Colorful, Fun, and Glitch. Only the Basic section, which consists of 11 effects, is available in the free version. Some of these include Chrome, Noir, Tonal, and Process.

The rest of the effects can be unlocked using the Effect Pack in-app purchase, which only costs 99 cents and unlocks a whopping 49 additional effects.

There is a settings icon on the editing page which allows users to speed up or slow down the GIF up to four times faster or slower. Quality can also be adjusted here on a scale of one to five, three being the default.

Tap next and the GIF will encode. Now you can choose to save it to your camera roll, send it via Twitter or email, and export it as a GIF or MOV file to other third-party apps.
