You're probably very familiar with the game of concentration but how about an audio form of it? The Sound Matcher app for your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone gives you the ability to play the classic game but you'll be matching sounds rather than pictures. This game of course works on your memory and concentration skills but it also will be exercising your listening skills, something that can be especially helpful for kids.
The Sound Matcher app gives you a new take on the classic game on concentration because in this version you’ll be training your memory, concentration, and listening skills. Listening skills are important for everyone to have but can be especially important for kids to learn how to focus and tune in. This app can be played by adults and kids and all that’s involved is matching the sounds to each other. One of the things listening skills can help kids with is when they are learning to read so they can fully understand the phonics/sounds of the words and letters. Instead of using a typical deck of cards you will be using a deck of sounds.
This app was recently updated with more sounds so that there is even more gameplay available. Sound Matcher scores really high with users who have given it 4.5 out of five stars. Users love how easy the app is to understand and play.
Listen to the sounds and make matches
The Sound Matcher app requires players to listen up and match the sounds. There are a variety of decks of talking cards in different categories such as machine sounds, word opposites, letters, animal sounds, and more. The app supports achievements and you'll find your score at the bottom of the screen. Sound Matcher also supports Game Center. The gameplay is very simple, you are given a game board that has a series of black cards laid out on it. Tap on the card to hear the sound and then try to find its match. When you find a match you’ll be awarded coins. You will notice as you move through the levels the gameplay gets harder because there are more cards/sounds to try and match up.
The user interface is quite basic and unfortunately it is supported by ads. A little polishing could definitely be done to the look and feel of it but at the same time it’s not really affecting the gameplay in any sort of negative way.

The Sound Matcher app for your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone is a fun take on concentration that will help you with your listening skills. It would be nice to see a bit more polishing done to the app for a sleeker look.
