There are plenty of apps out there that can provide Compass navigation but not all of them are packed full of features. The Compass Plus app for your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone attempts to stand out from the rest by offering a wide array of features. The app ensures accuracy by allowing users to use the accelerometer, gyroscope, GPS, and compass. The user interface is simple and straight-forward and you may find that the list of features is exactly what you're looking for.
What's interesting about the Compass Plus app is that it's an older one that hasn't been updated in a while yet it still remains relevant and useful. It's obviously not the most advanced offering out there but in its price point it's certainly not a bad offering. Developers have stated that the app is ideal if you're traveling abroad and want to be sure you can find your way around, to use when camping/hiking/backpacking, while hunting so you can find your favorite spots, on ski trips so you can mark where the lodge is and find your way back, and even such a simple thing as keeping track of where you're parked.
The app hasn't been updated for a couple of years yet it retains a four out of five star customer rating. There are no customer comments so it's hard to tell how current those ratings are. Again, it’s not the sleekest offering, but it does offer a variety of basic tools and features.

Taking a Closer Look
The Compass Plus app allows you to mark a saved location so you can head back to it and see your progress on a real-time map. While in map view you can switch between meters, feet, or miles. The distance will actually count down as you get closer and closer to your final destination. The app is meant to feel like those expensive GPS devices offering you many of the same benefits. You will be able to see a time and date of the saved and current location, as well as the GPS coordinates for the locations. What's handy is that if the app is in background mode the GPS will shut down so it's not draining your battery the whole time.
The graphics are a little grainy, the app doesn't always feel modern or sleek, but with all that said, it's pretty easy to use.
