Introduction
PsychoLocks - pimp your lock screen and customize it with new themes is an app that aims to help you spruce up your lock screen with customizable designs.
The best vault apps for the iPhone
There are a few dozen wallpapers included in the app, which costs $2.99. Additional features can be unlocked via in-app purchases, each costing $1.99.
This may sound extravagant when it comes to wallpaper apps, so let's find out if it's worth the money.
Custom Overlays
PsychoLocks - pimp your lock screen and customize it with new themes takes up 60.7 MB of space on your iPhone or iPad, and comes with about 30 high-quality designs. Although these designs look pretty great, 30 is a pretty low number for an app that costs $2.99.
The best iPad vault apps
Users can swipe through the designs on a fairly easy-to-use and intuitive interface and set them as wallpapers. The highlight of the app, however, is the overlay feature, which lets you "Customize" various components of your lock screen such as the status bar, clock overlay, and "slide to unlock" bar.
It goes without saying that the app also allows users to import their own images and add the overlays for customization.
It says on the iTunes page that the app is updated with new ideas every week, but I haven't had it long enough to attest to that.
Limitations
Frankly, PsychoLocks - pimp your lock screen and customize it with new themes was a disappointing purchase. There are far too few types of wallpaper in this app, and it doesn't really offer anything amazing other that the overlays. Of course, as per iOS limitations, it doesn't actually change how the status bar, clock, or slide to unlock bar will look, but it will only change the bit of the image you use as lock screen.
The best iPad apps for wallpaper
Rather than making the purchase, one could simply find a cool-looking image and customize it themselves on a photo-editor before applying it as wallpaper.
Perhaps the only advantage in using this app over using your own image is that you won't have to fiddle around with getting the overlays in the right place. This is hardly worth the price, in my honest opinion.
Pros & Cons
Pros
-
High-quality wallpapers
-
Ability to change the look of the lock screen with overlays
Cons
-
Way too expensive for what it delivers
Final Words
PsychoLocks - pimp your lock screen and customize it with new themes is an okay app, but I personally feel that it's way overpriced. If you're looking to change the look of your iPhone or iPad's lock screen with overlays and you have some change to spare, then this might be worth checking out for ideas but I personally wouldn't go around recommending it to people.
