Reviews

Introduction

Build-a-lot 4: Power Source HD (full) is an iPad game in which you must construct cities. Build the houses, collect rent, take care of the roads and the community needs to have a successful city.

Build Houses to Create Your Community

Build-a-lot 4: Power Source HD (full) reminds me a lot of the original Sim City. I don’t know how many of you ever played that, but as I’m only 32 there should still be some of you! In it, you would build houses, fire stations, hospitals, and so on, as well as the roads. In Build-a-lot 4 you also build homes, malls, and restaurants, but you also build solar towers, wind farms, and even nuclear power plants to make your cities sustainable and prosperous for generations.

I was happy that there were tutorials to teach me how to use the app. It is intuitive, but there are different menus and different procedures that you have to go through to get the money into your account such as collecting the rent from your tenants. It’s simple enough as you click the money and goals tab and when it fills up you can collect the money and build, buy, or otherwise take care of your city.

Tutorials to Help Learn Game Play

Build-a-lot 4: Power Source HD (full) helps you to learn how to use the game. There are various lessons so that you can learn gradually and if you forget a lesson you can go back and remind yourself of how to do it again. I appreciate this as I don’t often have time to sit down and play games, so when I do I often forget the ins and outs until there’s a quick reminder of the game play. That’s why I tend to play the more simple games.

As I said though, the game is set up with great tutorials to help you learn, master, and be successful in achieving the goals that you’ve set in your game. There are many different houses, power sources, and so on to collect and build, and the game just keeps expanding as you continue playing.

Final Thoughts

Build-a-lot 4: Power Source HD (full) is an iPad game that is not supported on the iPhone. This is due to the HD graphics that make the game really pop. There are lots of different buildings to unlock, collect, and build, and there are great tutorials to teach you how to raise money and build these structures. Overall, the game was fun, but it was difficult to master the menu system. I definitely appreciated the tutorials!
