It’s not always easy finding a decent game in the App Store. There’s certainly a lot to choose from but quantity doesn’t necessarily mean quality. If you enjoy fun cartoon characters and jumping over tall buildings you may want to give Parkour Cat a try. This game features some fun cartoon style graphics and some entertaining fast paced action. If you like games that don’t require a lot of time to learn the ins and outs Parkour Cat will tick all of your boxes. This is a free app and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Cat Jumping Fun

There are certain ingredients that go into every successful game that comes out of the App Store. To be a success a game needs to have fun graphics and intuitive gameplay. Parkour Cat does a great job in both categories. In this game you control a cool-looking cartoon cat as he jumps across the top of skyscrapers in a downtown setting. The music and sound effects are great as well, creating a great overall package.

Unfortunately this app suffers from an overabundance of ads – they’re everywhere! There are banner ads along the bottom of every screen and pop up ads that pop up before and after every game played. On occasion ads even pop up in the middle of the game which is very distracting. If it wasn’t for all these ads this game would be one of the more entertaining around but all the ads definitely bring it down a notch or two. This app will require 44 MB of available space on your iOS device.  

How it Works

The main screen of the app includes a few different features. If you tap on the person icon on the right-hand side you can save your name in the app which is useful if you want to get your name on the world Leaderboard. You can access the Leaderboard by tapping on the trophy icon in the middle of the main screen. This also the option to share your score on Facebook or Twitter but I found this took a long time to load.  To start playing a game you just tap on start and then choose from one of the available cityscapes. The first time you play only the first one will be available making your choice easy.

To play the game you tap on the screen to make your cat character jump. This one’s all about timing: it sounds simple but you have to time your jumps just right. The game gets really challenging when there are large gaps between buildings. When this happens you have to launch your cat off birds or balloons flying by. It’s a whole lot of fun and there are a lot of little details in the game that make this one worth downloading.

Final Words

Parkour Cat is one of the better games you’ll find in the App Store. It combines excellent gameplay with cute cartoon characters to create a fun effort that’s highly entertaining. If it wasn’t for all the ads this game would be hard to pass up.
