Transformers Rescue Bots: Dino Island app review - a fun interactive Transformers storybook

Transformers Rescue Bots: Dino Island by PlayDate Digital is a fun interactive storybook app that the kids will love. The Transformers franchise has been one of the most successful enterprises of the last twenty years and it continues to maintain its popularity through innovative product offerings. The great thing about an interactive storybook like this is that parents can use it as a great way to spend time with their kids by reading right along with them. This app is available for purchase from the App Store at a cost of $2.99 and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Read Along With Your Favorite Dinobot Transformers Characters

Interactive stories are a great way to take advantage of some of the iPhone or iPad’s greatest features. There’s nothing wrong with a gold old fashioned storybook, but the way these apps bring stories to life for young children is hard to beat. Transformers Rescue Bots: Dino Island is definitely one of the better ones you’ll come across for your children. It combines that good old fashioned storytelling with all the best features of interactive stories as well. The five-year-old in my house absolutely loved this one.

The best iPhone apps for kids

This game features some of the kid’s favorite Transformer characters in a fun and colorful setting. There are no ads to distract your children and while there are links for the purchase of other apps within the app, you have to enter your birth date before you can proceed which makes it difficult for young children to accidently gain access to the App Store without your knowledge. The other great thing about this app is that no matter what page you’re on you can always hit the home button to return to the main screen, some apps make this process more difficult than it needs to be so this was definitely refreshing. This app will require 95.2 MB of available space on your iOS device.

The Essentials

The main screen of Transformers Rescue Bots: Dino Island features a picture of all the Dinobots and four main options: Read To Me, Read It Myself, Auto Play, and Dino-Cam. If you select the Read To Me option the story will be read to you but you’ll still have to turn the pages yourself and interact with the pages to make the Dinobots perform certain functions. With the second option you do everything for yourself. In Auto Play not only is the story read to you, but the app will also turn the pages and control the movements of the Bots. The range of options here makes this app appropriate for kids of all.

The Dino-Cam section is a bonus feature that has nothing to do with the actual story itself. With this feature your child can take their picture next to their favorite Dinobots. I know the children in our home really enjoyed this feature. You simply allow the app to access your camera and let your child take a snapshot of themselves which is then inserted into a framed picture with their Dinobot of choice. You can then save it to your camera roll to share with other family members.

This app features three different story telling methods, allowing your child to decide how much they want to control the interaction with the app. It also features a great Dino-Cam feature which your children will love.
