Redbooth app review: a workplace collaboration tool

Redbooth by Redbooth Inc., is an excellent workplace collaboration tool that will allow you to take your company's creative activity to the next level. The app is a companion app for the Redbooth desktop and laptop applications. It lets you share your work remotely while on the go, and communicate instantly with coworkers on the other side of the country. It’ easy to use and has a great user interface which makes using this app a joy. In today’s business world you need every edge you can get, and an app like Redbooth may be just the edge you’re looking for. This is a free app and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

Increase Productivity and Creativity

Productivity apps are nothing new, in fact Apple and Microsoft were competing for supremacy in the business application market long before mobile devices ever became a thing. Mobile devices have simply made these applications more mobile and more diverse. Developers are always looking for a way to enhance the end user experience for business men and women and, for the most part, Redbooth succeeds in this endeavor. This app has a comprehensive set of tools that can quickly turn your iPhone or iPad into an extension of your business.

Perhaps the biggest complain I had about this app was that it’s not a stand-alone application, in fact you can’t even sign up for Redbooth from within the app – you have to actually set up your login on their website first. This seemed a little strange when there are tons of other business applications out there with no such requirements. Another thing that’s a bit of an issue with this one is that they don’t make the instructions easy to find – there is a great help section, it just doesn’t jump out at you, you have to work to find it. The free version of this app is also a limited trial version. This app will require 24.8 MB of available space on your iOS device.

The Essentials

The main interface of the Redbooth app is very user friendly The window is divided into two sections – on the left is the main work area, and on the right is a simple search function as well as a built in messaging app for internal communications between team members. There are tabs in the top left corner that help you easily navigate your way around the app including: a settings menu, a notification center, and access to the main workshop section. The main workshop view includes a section for tracking items that are overdue or not yet planned, a tasks overview section, and a trends section to help you keep track of how busy your projects section is.

How you actually create a project for your team to work on from within the app is not immediately clear, but there is a great help section that will help you with this. It boils down to this – creating tasks is really best done from a desktop computer or laptop. The Redbooth IOS app is more of a companion app than anything else. As long as you’re already set up and have projects on the go it’s great, but it won’t be of much use to you on its own.

Pros and Cons

  • Great user interface
  • Comprehensive set of tools that complement Redbooth’s desktop applications well
  • Excellent help section
  • Built in messaging app for communication with team members

  • More of a companion app, most of the tools are meant to be used alongside the desktop functions
  • Free app is a trial version

Final Words

If you’re looking for an app that can help you work in collaboration with other business partners and team members remotely, Redbooth is a great choice. It’s important to keep in mind though that this app is not a stand-alone app, you will have to use it in conjunction with your conventional desktop or laptop to get full value out of it.
