NOOK for iPad app review

Price: Free

NOOK by Barnes & Noble allows you to read books, newspapers, and magazines right on your iPad.

The size and picture quality of your iPad make it ideal for this NOOK app so you can flip through all your favorite reading material with the flick of a finger. NOOK features a huge digital library including free trial subscriptions of newspapers and magazines, and free samples of books.

Personalize your reading experience by adjusting the font size or type, change the background color, use the NOOK themes, or create your very own customized theme. You can also control the brightness so it's ideal no matter what setting you may be in.

While you're reading you'll be able to use such tools as highlights, bookmarks, add notes, the in-app dictionary, and sync the last page you've read to other NOOK devices. If you have PDF or EPUB files you want to read you can transfer them to NOOK, a quick and easy process.

Be sure to check out the exclusive "PagePerfect" NOOK books that explore such topics as gardening, arts and crafts, health and fitness, cookbooks, and teens and kids content.

NOOK was updated on Nov. 26, 2012 and has 4,403 customer ratings with an average rating of four and a half stars out of five.

What was great is that the app comes pre-loaded with a selection of books so I was actually able to start reading right away. Thanks to the size of the iPad the reading experience is fabulous and compares strongly with that of an actual book in your hand instead.

For: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation), and iPad with iOS 4.3 or later
