DISCOVER Magazine app review

DISCOVER Magazine

Price: Free

Discover magazine is an exciting publication that covers some of the most interesting and groundbreaking news in various industries like science, technology, medicine and more. The app is free to download, however, to read this magazine you have to purchase a subscription. The subscription fees are: $19.99 for 1 year (10 issues per year), $1.99 for 1 month, or $5.99 for a single issue.

The app has a subscriber's automatic renewal feature which means your paid subscription will automatically renew unless you turn off this feature at least 24 hours before your current subscription ends. For some people, this feature is great because they don't have to remember when to make a payment. Additionally, this feature also prevents any interruption in your service.

The app was last updated on December 7th, 2012. Version 7.10 fixed a few bugs that caused crashes with the text view and with the iO6 system when letting a full-screen video play to completion.

The app currently has 30 ratings with a 2-star average. For all versions, the app has 134 ratings with a 2 1/2 star average.

I personally enjoy the Discover magazine and the digital version of this publication is just as captivating. However, I'm not a fan of the automatic renewal feature because it's very easy to forget when to cancel your subscription. Also, this app's iTunes page states that you can't cancel a subscription during the active subscription period. And to make things even less appealing, if you have a magazine subscription, it doesn't transfer over to the digital copy. You would have to pay for two subscriptions if you wanted to get this magazine on your iPhone.

For: iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad with iOS 4.3 or later.
