Wikipanion for iPad app review

Wikipanion for iPad

Price: FREE

Wikipanion by Robert Chin is an unofficial Wikipedia app that provides full access to all Wiki content.

With this app you can view the standard Wikipedia table of contents at the top of each article. This will remember and save your place in the article so you will not need to keep scrolling back down.

Wikipanion provides you with a variety of search modes, in-article font-resizing for easy-reading and full ogg vorbis support for playing audio files within articles.

Other features include being able to save images to your Photo Library, browsing by category, bookmarking, page-viewing history; and contextual knowledge, which enables you to insert content and links into a specific part of Wikipedia articles.

Wikipanion also boasts full sharing support via Facebook and Twitter, so you can share your favorite Wikipedia entries with friends and family online.

Wikipanion for iPad was updated to version 1.7.8.3 in early-February of 2013. The current version has a total of 12 customer ratings with an average rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars. Customer reviews are generally very positive.

I do like this app, and I actually prefer its layout to that of the official Wikipedia app. My only complaint is that the free version of this app does not allow you save articles.

For: iPad with iOS 4.3 or later.
