TourPal Travel Guide app review: carry around your own pocket-sized audio tour guide

Reviews

Introduction

If you’re planning a vacation in a foreign country, or perhaps just a town or city unfamiliar to you, TourPal Travel Guide will provide guided audio tours at points of interest so that you can walk around without a care in the world. You'll be able to enjoy your surroundings while the audio guide educates you on the historical and cultural facts surrounding the beautiful sights to which you’ll be able to bear witness.

Please be aware that while this is a free app, you will need to pay to download the audio tours, but there are demos of the various waypoints of each tour so you can get a feel for what will be included in your purchase.

The tours aren’t particularly cheap but when you compare this to the cost of a real human tour guide, it could certainly save you a pretty penny on your next vacation so I think TourPal Travel Guide is well worth checking.

Get the Most from Your Vacation

This is a very nicely designed app which I think provides a wonderfully inexpensive way of getting the most out of your vacations by being able to download tours and essentially have your own tour guide right in your pocket.

You can use your current location to find tours in your local area, or if you prefer you can search for specific locations and then be presented with a list of available tours.

From here, you can view the distance, duration, and price of each tour; some of them are several hours long so you’ll definitely be getting your money’s worth if you choose one of the day tours. Each one is split into several checkpoints which are presented on an integrated map so you can plan ahead and know which route you’ll be taking.

Features

One feature I thought was a nice addition is that on the Tour Info sections you can tap the Guide tab to view a photograph and biography of the person who will be your tour guide. The developer has definitely got some very experienced individuals in to record the tours and the quality certainly speaks for itself as you’ll see if you listen to some of the tour demos.

What’s more, you can leave feedback on your purchased tours and there is even a field where you input coupon codes if you’re fortunate enough to be provided with one to get a free or discounted tour.

Final Words

One feature I thought was a nice addition is that on the Tour Info sections you can tap the Guide tab to view a photograph and biography of the person who will be your tour guide.

This app is highly recommended, if only for the sheer quality of the app itself and the quality of the content.
