Need Boy app review: can you guess what Need Boy needs?

Introduction

Putting an interesting spin on the “guess the word” genre of games that have become so popular, this fun original game has you helping Need Boy by figuring out what he needs based on picture clues and then typing the correct answer from the selection of available letters.

I think this is a great idea for a game. It’s so refreshing to see developers coming up with original concepts such as this, or at the very least, taking tried and tested formulas and adding a little extra to make it their own.

This game is a heap of fun and it definitely receives a recommendation from me!

Our Boy is a Little Needy

The concept of Need Boy is simple enough to grasp. You are presented with an illustration on-screen, and your task is to figure out what Need Boy needs.

Is he piling on the pounds? He needs a diet!               

Does Need Boy stink to High Heaven? He needs a shower!

It really is that simple!

For each clue you guess correctly, you’ll be awarded energy, and this energy can be spent in the Unlockables section of the app. In here, you’ll find a selected of wallpapers that you can unlock and use as the Home or Lock screens on your iPhone.

 

What Does He Need?

If you should get stuck (as I currently am!), you’ll be pleased to know that you can use handy hints to get you through to the next level. One hint removes a letter which doesn’t appear in the answer while another displays a correct letter.

Be careful with your hints because they cost energy to use, and you’ll quickly sap your energy if you’re not careful! If you’d rather take the safer route, you can ask your friends and family for a little assistance by tapping the Facebook icon in the top right-hand corner and submitting as post requesting help.

All in all, this is a very fun game. The first few levels are incredibly easy but I guarantee you’ll be scratching your head by the time you get through the first half-dozen or so.

Final Words

Need Boy is far from being the most visually polished app that I’ve come across. Having said that, the artwork is largely hand-drawn, and I really like the effect this produces.
