The Urbanspoon app is a clever way to find new bars, cafés, and restaurants that you have never visited. Alternatively, you can browse the directory of local restaurants and check reviews from newspapers, blogs, and other diners to decide where to eat.

This app allows you to search by various criteria such as cuisine, location, and price. Urbanspoon also enables you to make reservations, and by checking-in, you can create a dining history and compare your favorite eateries with friends.

Urbanspoon was updated to version 3.3 in early-January of 2013. This version has a total of 1927 customer ratings with an average of five out of five stars. Customer reviews are generally positive.

I would prefer if there was a greater distinction between fast food chains and local restaurants; however, the Shake feature of this app can make for some very adventurous eats! Urbanspoon also covers Canada, Australia, Ireland, and the UK, making it an ideal app for dining while traveling overseas.
